Welcome to Hillview
We are the only maintained nursery school in Harrow and have a very strong history of providing early education, care and support to children and their families in a most inclusive environment through the close partnership of the co-located Hillview Children’s Centre Hub, local schools and other agencies. We offer 90 places to two, three and four-year-olds, and have an additionally resourced nursery provision for 12 children with special needs.
Our school is a special haven for young children to explore and develop independently within an enabling environment. In the words of Ofsted – which judged us as good in 2016 – we are “successful in developing confident, highly motivated and caring learners”.
Hillview is absolutely committed to ensuring that every child has the best start to life, because what happens early, matters for a lifetime.
Hillview Nursery school is bright and spacious; the physical environment is resourced to a high standard with specialist equipment within our sensory room. We are fortunate to have a large landscaped garden which is partly sheltered so the children can access the outdoor area in all weathers. Outdoor play is an essential part of nursery life, providing children with daily outdoor opportunities (Statutory duty, EYFS 2017), giving children use of the environment as a source of learning.
Our experienced and dedicated staff are committed to support each individual child and work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure that each child receives the care and provision they need to reach their full potential regardless of race, gender or disability.
Our partnership with parents is essential to our work, we believe you are your child’s first teacher and we value your opinions and support. We believe in children learning through play, and we offer a safe, stimulating learning environment to enable children to develop and make the first steps to becoming independent learners.
We follow the Statutory Framework of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). All activities, experiences and routines are planned to meet the seven areas of learning from the EYFS Framework. Our nursery routine enables the children to initiate their own play alongside staff conducting focus activities based on children’s interests and next steps.
Our aim is to keep children and families at the heart of all we do and offer the best possible start to their future education. We are committed to the safety and wellbeing of every child and their family.
If you have any questions or would like to visit our nursery please contact us and we can arrange an appointment.
I look forward to working with you and your child at this exciting stage of their development.
