THE IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION

•EAL  - Home language is important, children will learn English

             in nursery while playing with others and engaging in

             activities.                                                     

•Asking open-ended questions (What? Where? When? Who? Why? What if…? How?)

•Lots of rhymes and stories

•Story time – talking about pictures, story characters and

                      settings, prediction, READ-PAUSE-ASK

WRITING

•Finger gym activities (using small objects for activities, e.g. pegs, beads, buttons, keys and locks, nuts and

   bolds…)             

•Holding pencils correctly

•Tracing over lines / copying

•Letter formation (name writing)

MATHEMATICS

•Deep understanding of numerals (1-10) 

•Counting to 20

•Matching, sorting, classifying, puzzle
